Hi-Rock Weekend Was A Success

All of the rain on Thursday and Friday evening wasn't enough to dampen anyone's spirits!  A big warm thank you goes out to everyone who attended this year's Camp Hi-Rock weekend and Stratford IGIP closing ceremonies!  Everyone had a fantastic time at camp.

Crow Tribe with Kickapoo Banner

The capture the tribal banner competition was fierce.  The hiking was intense, but the views of surrounding countryside was breathtaking and well worth the time and effort to climb the white marker trail.

ELH at Closing Ceremonies 2014

On Saturday evening, the program year came to an end with the closing ceremonies.  Things came full circle as the torch of leadership was passed down to the Nation's new leaders.  The new Longhouse was installed, with Tom Donnelly taking over as our new Big Chief, coming from the Kickapoo tribe.  Tom has a strong Executive Longhouse team baked by Marc Rich, from the Creek tribe, as our new Medicine Man, and Mike Poirier, from the Cayuga tribe, as our new Tally Keeper.  Alan Grassia, from the Crow tribe, will take over as our new Sachem, helping our Big Chief where required.  The Program also said goodbye to longtime Program Coordinator, Frank Bevacqua, from the Crow tribe, after more than 16 years in the Program.  He will be succeeded by Alan Grassia, also from the Crow tribe.

Wrapping up the evening was the annual ice cream social and year end slideshow.  The Guides and Princesses really enjoyed seeing all of the fun they've had over the Program year.

As we were packing up camp, there were many heart felt goodbyes as we go our separate ways for the summer break.  But even with the goodbyes and the hugs were over, we all knew it would be ok, because just as we have come full circle this year, the new IGIP Program year is just a few short weeks away from starting up again.

Have a wonderful summer and we'll see you all again in the fall!  Noonway!
